Designing for intermittent connectivity

Anything used in a warehouse or a vehicle will lose its connection. That is a design input, not an incident, and treating it as an incident is how these systems accumulate manual workarounds.

  • Conflict resolution rules decided in advance rather than improvised.
  • Event models that tolerate updates arriving late or out of order.
  • Interfaces usable one-handed, wearing gloves, in poor light.

When the data and the world disagree

In logistics they always eventually do. The question is whether the system makes the discrepancy visible and correctable, or hides it until a customer calls. We build in reconciliation and correction paths, with an audit trail, so that fixing reality is a normal operation rather than a database edit.

Can you integrate with carrier systems?
Yes. Carrier integrations are a routine part of this work, and their quirks — inconsistent status vocabularies, delayed webhooks, out-of-order events — are exactly what the design has to absorb.
Do you build mobile apps for drivers and warehouse staff?
Yes, with offline capability where the environment demands it. Usability under real conditions matters more here than in most software: cold hands, gloves, and bad lighting are design constraints.
Can you work with our existing WMS or TMS?
Usually. Replacing a working warehouse or transport system is disruptive and rarely the cheapest route. We more often extend and integrate what is already running.
