IT Staff Augmentation

IT staff augmentation means adding named individual engineers to your existing team for a defined period. You manage them exactly as you manage your own staff; we handle contracts, payroll, and equipment. It is the fastest and lowest-commitment way to work with us, and the right answer when you know precisely which skill is missing.

When augmentation beats hiring

Permanent hiring is the right answer for durable, core capability. Augmentation is better when the need has an end date, or when you cannot afford to wait out a hiring cycle.

  • A deadline that needs more hands than you have, for a known period.
  • A specific skill — a mobile platform, a database, a cloud migration — you need once.
  • Cover for parental leave, notice periods, or an unexpected departure.
  • Testing whether a role is genuinely needed before opening a permanent headcount.

What we handle and what you handle

The division is deliberately simple, because ambiguity about who manages an engineer is the usual reason augmentation fails.

  • You: priorities, code review, day-to-day direction, performance feedback.
  • Us: sourcing, contracts, payroll, equipment, and replacement if needed.
  • Both: an agreed check-in so problems surface early rather than at renewal.

The honest limitation

Augmented engineers work well when your team already has clear direction and a functioning review process. If the constraint is that nobody has time to direct the work, adding engineers makes it worse, not better. In that case a dedicated team with its own lead, or an offshore team that owns the outcome, is the better structure — say so early and we will propose accordingly.

Frequently asked questions

How quickly can someone start?
Faster than a dedicated team, since there is no team-building step, but it still depends on the skill. Rare specialisms take longer to source than common ones. We give you a real date, not a hopeful one.
Do we get the same person throughout?
Yes. Augmentation is named individuals, not interchangeable capacity. If a change is unavoidable we tell you early and run an overlap.
What is the shortest engagement?
Short engagements are possible but rarely worth it — the first weeks are mostly context-building, so very short contracts spend most of their value on ramp-up. Tell us the deadline you are working to and we will be straight about whether it is worth starting.
